New health data uses and cyber threats pose challenge for HIPAA in meeting security demands

Industry lawyers say new government guidance or policies aren't coming any time soon, even as the healthcare industry faces a steady barrage of cyber attacks and the regulatory structure designed to protect patient information predates new data uses that exacerbate these cyber risks.
