Montgomery: Solarium Commission focusing on key policy moves to bolster water-supply security

The Cyberspace Solarium Commission, whose landmark 2020 report highlighted cyber vulnerabilities in the nation’s water-supply system, will focus extensively this year on developing policies to bolster security in that “lifeline” critical infrastructure sector, according to Solarium senior advisor Mark Montgomery.

Policymakers must raise awareness of cybersecurity issues both among water-supply operators and the local governments that own about 80 percent of the water systems, Montgomery said, while also providing technological assistance and funding -- through grants or low-interest loans --...
