Legal developments will shape FTC's role in data privacy, security requirements

The Federal Trade Commission under the leadership of acting Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen is poised to reassert its role in setting and enforcing data security and privacy requirements, pledging to work with other regulators on consistent rules based on the sensitivity of data, while facing legal actions and touting recent settlements that will shape the commission's continuing role on data security.
