Justice, Defense departments urge FCC to take action on internet routing system protocol security risks

The departments of Justice and Defense are urging the Federal Communications Commission to move forward with work to secure the Border Gateway Protocol in a new filing, which explains associated national security risks and argues against using a voluntary approach to address vulnerabilities.

“We believe that the FCC should comprehensively tackle these vulnerabilities with industry-wide solutions using a combination of technical security standards and transparency measures, rather than continuing to rely on the current case-by-case approach to addressing these vulnerabilities,”...
