Industry wants presidential cyber commission to take on SAFETY Act expansion

NEW YORK CITY – Industry officials are urging a presidential commission on cybersecurity to back an expansion of an anti-terrorism law, known as SAFETY Act, to include cybersecurity services and products for liability protections under the statute.

The idea is not necessarily new but getting it onto the high-level commission's agenda would be a boon for proponents of extending liability relief for companies that develop and sell cybersecurity services.

The SAFETY Act should be revised to explicitly offer liability waivers...
