Industry officials call for home IoT device standards at NIST framework meeting

Industry officials are calling on the National Institute of Standards and Technology to convene a process for developing cybersecurity standards for home Internet of Things devices, a process that should take place outside efforts to update the federal framework of cybersecurity standards.

During a Wednesday discussion on cyber-physical systems at NIST’s cybersecurity framework workshop in Gaithersburg, MD, panel members and attendees pushed for an additional workshop to begin laying out IoT home device standards.
