Impasse over election security endures, and dominates Hill cyber discussions

While privacy and other cyber-related issues languish on Capitol Hill, election security is the cyber topic that continues to generate the most discussion – and heat – among lawmakers, in a debate rife with cybersecurity implications but seemingly unlikely to deliver new policy outcomes.

As is often the case, the Senate's Republican and Democratic leaders this week managed to frame important aspects of the cyber policy debate even as they engaged in sharply partisan exchanges over elections.
