House, Senate lawmakers release discussion draft of bipartisan data privacy legislation proposal

Lawmakers on the House and Senate commerce committees have reached an agreement on bipartisan “comprehensive” data privacy legislation that would establish a national framework for protecting consumer data and sets up a new bureau at the Federal Trade Commission for enforcement.
