House Science panel demands DHS documents, briefing on Kaspersky efforts

House Science Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) is seeking documents and details related to the Department of Homeland Security's efforts to rid federal systems of Kaspersky software, and wants a briefing from DHS officials by Dec. 19.

Smith, who has been aggressively pursuing a variety of cyber issues from his Science Committee position, is zeroing in on possible agency failures to comply with a DHS order to identify and begin removing the Kaspersky products, the extent of their presence across government...
