House passes IT modernization bill that could lead to cyber acquisition standards

The House has passed a federal IT modernization bill creating a “technology modernization fund” for upgrading IT systems and a “tech modernization board” that could play a role in setting cybersecurity standards for government acquisitions.

The Modernizing Government Technology “MGT” Act, developed through a bipartisan effort led by House Oversight IT subcommittee Chairman Will Hurd (R-TX) and ranking member Robin Kelly (D-IL), passed the House by voice vote Wednesday.
