House Energy and Commerce to discuss bill establishing new pipeline security body under FERC

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has set a hearing on pipeline security legislation that would direct FERC to certify an “Energy Product Reliability Organization” with authority to “establish and enforce” reliability standards for pipelines carrying oil, natural gas and other energy products.

The bill by Energy and Commerce energy subcommittee Chairman Bobby Rush (D-IL) will be the subject of a Dec. 7 hearing featuring Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Richard Glick and Energy Deputy Secretary David Turk....
