House appropriators approve fiscal 2025 DHS budget, falling short on requested CISA funding to implement incident reporting law

The House Appropriations Committee’s fiscal 2025 budget bill for the Department of Homeland Security falls short by $8.62 million from CISA’s request to implement a mandatory cyber incident reporting law for critical infrastructure owners and operators.

The committee approved $107.28 million in a Wednesday markup for the 2022 Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act as part of the fiscal 2025 DHS spending bill. CISA asked for $118 million in its fiscal 2025 budget request.
