House adds Homeland Security panel cybersecurity proposals to defense policy bill

The House-passed defense policy bill includes Homeland Security Committee-produced cybersecurity measures related to CISA, such as codifying a five-year term for the cyber agency director, and other proposals addressing critical infrastructure, supply chain, and cyber education.

The House on Thursday passed its version of the fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act including an assortment of cybersecurity amendments, notably one by Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) authorizing CISA to designate “systemically important entities” approved by voice vote.
