Hot takes: Critics say Biden strategy conflicts with voluntary collaboration as basis of federal cyber policy

Some industry insiders see the Biden administration’s national cyber strategy as signaling the effective end of government-industry voluntary collaboration as the foundation of cybersecurity policy, though federal officials say the strategy is rooted in the partnership model with mandatory requirements designed to fill in gaps.

The strategy was released Thursday by the Office of the National Cyber Director and administration officials stressed the importance of collaboration with industry.
