GOP lawmaker introduces bill to shore up cybersecurity at the SEC after recent hack

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) has introduced a bill intended to shore up cybersecurity practices at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission after a breach in September, amid expectations that the measure could advance this fall.

The Market Data Protection Act, introduced Thursday and referred to the House Financial Services Committee, directs the SEC to develop and implement cybersecurity protocols to mitigate possible cyber threats.
