GAO flags pressing need for updated national cyber strategy, identifies challenges

The Government Accountability Office cites an “urgent need” for a unified and comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy, in the first of a four-part series intended to spell out the top priorities for the federal government on cyber.

The first GAO report, “Cybersecurity High-Risk Series: Challenges in Establishing a Comprehensive Cybersecurity Strategy and Performing Effective Oversight,” was published Jan. 19. Additional reports will address mitigating global supply chain risks, growing the cyber workforce, and the security of emerging technologies.
