FTC's role in regulating data privacy is hot topic at SXSW tech conference

AUSTIN. -- Whether legislation is needed, or desirable, for the Federal Trade Commission to play an expanded role in regulating consumer data privacy was the focus of discussions by lawmakers and policy advocates at the technology and culture conference South by Southwest, with an industry lawyer raising cautions about the restrictions of trying to legislate a constantly evolving issue.
