FTC warns companies of ‘duty to take reasonable steps’ in remediating Log4j vulnerability

The Federal Trade Commission in a blog post is reminding companies of their “duty” to take action to address the Log4j software vulnerability posing what CISA has characterized as an unprecedented risk to IT and cloud assets.

“The FTC intends to use its full legal authority to pursue companies that fail to take reasonable steps to protect consumer data from exposure as a result of Log4j, or similar known vulnerabilities in the future,” the commission said in a blog posted today.
