FTC opens sessions on consumer data security issues, with panelists citing market failures and inadequate laws

Panelists today highlighted deficiencies in current state breach-notification laws and potential market failures when it comes to driving cybersecurity improvements, as the Federal Trade Commission opened two days of hearings focused on consumer data security issues.
