FTC official: Privacy Shield seen as 'adequate' for meeting tough new EU privacy rules

An existing agreement between the United State and European Union on protecting personal information -- known as Privacy Shield -- should satisfy requirements for U.S. companies concerned about complying with tough EU data rules that go into effect in two months, according to a senior Federal Trade Commission official.
