Former White House cyber official sees tracking outcomes, benchmarking as key to fulfilling national cyber strategy goals

By Jacob Livesay / May 28, 2024

Former White House cyber coordinator Michael Daniel says the implementation plan for President Biden's national cyber strategy could be improved by clarifying desired outcomes and setting benchmark metrics for success.

“Making sure that [ONCD has] a clear outcome in mind for all of these areas is really critical” for evaluating progress and guiding future efforts, Daniel told Inside Cybersecurity.

Daniel was cyber coordinator under former President Obama. He joined the Cyber Threat Alliance in 2017 as president and CEO.
