Former cyber officials weigh in on Volt Typhoon threats to critical infrastructure

The Chinese-backed threat group Volt Typhoon poses a significant risk to U.S. critical infrastructure and can be difficult to find and detect on systems, according to former cyber officials who participated in a panel on nation state-sponsored threats hosted by the Cyber Threat Alliance.

“This is an effort to be in place to be able to conduct destructive or disruptive attacks on our critical infrastructure,” former DHS senior cyber official Suzanne Spaulding said during the Monday webinar.
