Former Chairman Wheeler says FCC is only agency with ‘requisite authority,’ must lead on network security

Cyber vulnerabilities of telecom networks pose an “existential threat” that was largely ignored by the FCC during the Trump administration, according to former Chairman Tom Wheeler, who says the commission is the one place in federal government with the authority and expertise for “building cyber back better” and driving security improvements in the telecom sector.
