FERC takes steps to put in place new cyber standards for bulk power operators

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is making changes to its bulk power reliability standards to address supply chain risks in the energy sector through rulemaking efforts adopted during the regulatory agency’s latest meeting.

“FERC today proposed to require new or modified critical infrastructure (CIP) standards to address the growing risks posed by malicious actors seeking to compromise the reliable operation of the bulk-power system,” FERC said in a Sept. 19 release following the September meeting.
