Federal agency receives extensive input on streamlined testing rules for self-driving cars

A federal rulemaking addressing cybersecurity of self-driving cars drew widespread interest from manufacturers, insurers, state regulators, public interest groups and other stakeholders as a comment period came to a close last week.

The National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration, a Department of Transportation agency, received almost 100 comments by the Aug. 28 deadline on its “advanced notice of proposed rulemaking” on streamlining testing requirements related to autonomous vehicles.
