FCC seeks input, clarification on role of foreign telecom security review body set by executive order

The Federal Communications Commission is asking for input from agencies on how the telecom security review committee formally established by a recent executive order will affect the FCC’s oversight of foreign telecom companies.

President Trump issued an executive order last month setting up a high-level committee to assist the FCC in assessing national security threats associated with telecom applications and licenses, and to make recommendations on rejecting or modifying such applications to mitigate cyber and other risks.
