FCC proposes fine for Chinese doorbell manufacturer over security flaws misrepresented in equipment authorization

The Federal Communications Commission is proposing a $734,872 fine against China-based smart doorbell manufacturer Eken over providing allegedly false statements that raise cybersecurity concerns under the agency’s equipment authorization process.

The FCC at a Nov. 21 meeting adopted in a 4-1 vote a notice of apparent liability for forfeiture outlining the grounds for the fine.
