FCC advisory group backs recommendations on IoT risks while calling for further study

The Federal Communications Commission's advisory panel on network security voted Friday to approve a report on “best practices” and recommendations for mitigating risks to current internet protocols -- which are expected to increase with the growth of the Internet of Things -- while noting ongoing work by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and urging private industry adoption of guidelines by the Pentagon's National Security Agency.
