FCC advisory group approves report on risks, best practices in 5G transition from legacy systems

The Federal Communications Commission’s security advisory panel has approved recommendations on addressing “carry-over” risks to fifth-generation networks posed by the transition from 4G systems, calling for a variety of steps on the part of both the FCC and the telecom sector.

The FCC’s industry-led Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council VII met Wednesday to approve a report by its working group on risks posed to 5G from legacy vulnerabilities, and best practices for mitigation.
