FCC’s Pai says commission will vote on declaratory ruling that it has fulfilled requirements of new ‘Secure Networks Act’

The Federal Communications Commission will vote July 16 on a Declaratory Ruling that it has met its obligations under the Secure and Trusted Communications Act to prohibit use of any federal subsidies to purchase equipment from Chinese firms Huawei and ZTE, Chairman Ajit Pai said Wednesday, while also urging Congress to fully fund a program to “rip-and-replace” such equipment already on the systems of U.S. telecom providers.
