FBI official emphasizes basic cyber practices for defending against nation-state attacks

Many cyber attacks from threat groups affiliated with nation-state adversaries could be prevented by implementing fundamental security best practices, according to FBI cyber division section chief Jason Bilnoski.

“If we pay attention to the basic cyber hygiene principles, we no longer become the lowest hanging fruit, and the actor has to either utilize more advanced techniques, or they move on to a different victim,” Bilnoski said during a Thursday webinar hosted by Network Resilience Coalition.
