Electric utilities group seeks clarity over implementation of FERC incentives for voluntary cyber investments

The Edison Electric Institute is questioning how the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will establish incentive rate treatments for utilities that voluntarily go beyond current reliability standards in their cybersecurity efforts.

FERC released a notice of proposed rulemaking late last year to get input from industry on the creation of incentives based on adoption either of North American Electric Reliability Corporation Reliability Standards or NIST’s cybersecurity framework.
