DOJ praises Equifax assistance in indictment of Chinese military hackers

Attorney General William Barr today announced an indictment against four members of the Chinese military following a two-year investigation into the 2017 hack against consumer credit rating agency Equifax, an incident affecting 145 million Americans.

Department of Justice officials signaled out “the victim company” for praise in working with law enforcement to uncover the perpetrators, saying Equifax has been “very helpful” in the investigation.
