DOD suspends compliance deadline for NIST cyber rules in response to industry concerns

The Pentagon's top acquisitions official said defense contractors will be given additional time to comply with landmark cybersecurity reporting requirements adopted during the Obama administration, a move that is likely in response to concerns raised by industry and in particular smaller companies.

Defense Undersecretary for Acquisition Ellen Lord told the Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this month that an end-of-year compliance deadline has been softened to allow contractors to report progress in managing their supply-chain cybersecurity risks. No new deadline...
