DOD poised to request proposals for testing 5G, participants at MITRE security meeting told

The Defense Department will issue a request for proposals in early November for testing the use and security of next-generation 5G networks viewed as “transformational” for the military's mission, participants at a MITRE-hosted meeting were told.

The “request for proposals” will be issued through the National Spectrum Consortium and companies interested in bidding were encouraged to join the group, according to officials who provided an update on the Pentagon's 5G strategy at the MITRE meeting Tuesday.
