Digital advisors call for beefed-up cybersecurity provisions in U.S.-Japan trade deal

A group of outside advisors to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is calling for more robust cybersecurity and information and communications technology accords between the U.S. and Japan.

The two countries announced a digital agreement in September, along with a trade agreement on agriculture market access and industrial goods and a pledge to continue work on a broader trade deal. The digital pact largely mirrors language included in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
