DHS issues binding directive to increase agency email security

The Department of Homeland Security today issued a Binding Operational Directive mandating all federal agencies with a .gov account use new protocols to increase email and website security.

The order, signed by Acting Secretary Elaine Duke, specifically mandates the implementation of the Domain-Based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance system or DMARC, which would help prevent hackers from using federal agency email domain names to conduct cyber attacks.
