DHS, intelligence leaders brief lawmakers, ask for help in raising awareness on election security

The Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Director of National Intelligence briefed House members today on election security issues in closed session, with officials saying they were hoping to “enlist Congress' help” on raising awareness of election security threats.

In a joint statement from DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats after the briefing, the officials said securing the nation's election infrastructure was of “vital national interest."
