DHS' 2018 budget supports cyber executive order efforts, info-sharing programs

President Trump’s fiscal 2018 budget request for the Department of Homeland Security would increase funding for initiatives aimed at improving federal agency and critical infrastructure cybersecurity, in support of a recently signed cybersecurity executive order, while making a cut to an Obama-era information-sharing grant.

The 2018 DHS budget proposal gives DHS’ cybersecurity operations a $126 million boost overall from fiscal 2017 funding levels. It also offers a $52 million increase for cybersecurity “procurement, construction, and improvements” over fiscal 2017,...
