Defense Dept. makes changes to cyber certification program following internal review

The Defense Department is making significant changes to its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program with plans to eliminate third-party certifications for the lowest level of assessment, add a method for resolving assessment issues, and initiate new rulemaking efforts.

The Pentagon is calling the revamp to the program “CMMC 2.0”, and it follows a significant internal review of CMMC which started in March. DOD formally announced conclusion of their CMMC program internal review today.
