Defense Dept. looks to participate in global 5G standards-setting bodies

The Pentagon has established a new "tiger team" to engage fifth-generation wireless standards bodies, as the Defense Department seeks more influence over the technologies underlying high-speed 5G networks.

Frederick Moorefield, Jr., deputy chief information officer for command, control and communications, said DOD's involvement in the 5G standards bodies is "a new area" for the department.
