Cyber firm reports U.S. most targeted country for ransomware, offers outlook on attackers’ strategies

The research team at cybersecurity firm Zscaler is reporting a 37 percent increase in ransomware attacks in the last year, with the United States as the most frequently targeted country and manufacturing as the most targeted industry.

“The United States is the most affected country, with 40.34% of overall victims impacted by double extortion attacks, followed by Canada (6.75%), the United Kingdom (6.44%), Germany (4.92%), and France (3.89%),” writes the firm’s research team.
