Consumer Reports argues for requiring IoT manufacturers to provide end-of-support dates

Technology manufacturers should be required to inform consumers when they will stop providing software updates for end-of-support Internet of Things products, according to research from nonprofit Consumer Reports.

“Ideally, when connected products reach their end of life and stop getting security updates, they should be taken offline to minimize security risks,” the nonprofit says in a blog post published today detailing findings on consumer awareness of post-market support for their products.
