Congress, in defense bill, poised to make first major statement on cyber policy since '15

Poised for final approval this week, the 2018 defense authorization bill contains initiatives on a range of cyber policy issues beyond traditional defense-focused measures -- including federal IT modernization and development of new cyber tools -- and could represent Congress' most substantial cybersecurity achievement since passing landmark information-sharing legislation in 2015.

And, stakeholders say, the breadth of the National Defense Authorization Act’s cyber provisions indicate a move beyond thematic “big policy” statements from Congress into more detailed prescriptions, as well...
