Commerce Secretary Ross says IoT changes security calculation for Huawei

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross called the Internet of Things a cybersecurity game-changer Monday as he underscored the need to keep Huawei out of fifth-generation wireless networks, while announcing that U.S. firms would be allowed to sell certain components to the Chinese telecom for another 90 days.

“As the Internet of Things becomes more extensive -- with everything connected through 5G -- the magnitude [of the threat] will be far greater,” Ross said in an interview on Fox Business News.
