Commerce chief Ross, after review with EU, says U.S. to focus on appointment of privacy 'ombudsperson'

Officials reviewing the mechanism for ensuring data transfers between the U.S. and European Union countries adhere to EU privacy standards have identified the nomination of a permanent undersecretary to fill a key position in the data transfer framework as a priority, amid a continually shifting landscape for governing data management and security.
