Commerce agency says FTC ‘commercial surveillance’ proposal helps drive unified approach to privacy
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is weighing in with support for a Federal Trade Commission rulemaking on “commercial surveillance,” saying the effort helps address “the lack of a strong, unified national approach to privacy.”
“The FTC’s rulemaking proceeding presents a valuable opportunity to implement a strong and cohesive framework of privacy protections that complements efforts at other agencies and in Congress,” NTIA, a Commerce Department agency, said in comments to the Federal Trade Commission.
