CISA funding boost advances as House appropriations subcommittee approves DHS spending bill

A widely backed plan to significantly increase funding for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has cleared it first legislative hurdle, as the House Appropriations homeland security subcommittee today approved by voice vote its fiscal 2022 spending bill for DHS.

The DHS measure goes to markup on July 13 in the full House Appropriations Committee, where partisan tensions over immigration are likely to overshadow extensive support for the cybersecurity provisions. Subcommittee ranking member Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) signaled as much, saying...
