Chinese press on Huawei restrictions; U.S. academics cite inconsistent strategic approach

The Chinese government is stressing the need for the U.S. to ease up on telecom Huawei, while a panel of academics discussed how pending trade negotiations are likely to affect cybersecurity and other issues in the U.S.-China relationship.

A Chinese government spokesman said Wednesday that the U.S. needs to honor President Trump’s commitment to allow U.S. companies to continue supplying Chinese telecom company Huawei or risk damaging its credibility.
