Center for Democracy and Technology, at FTC hearing, hints at contents of upcoming privacy and security proposal

A federal privacy and data security law should include process-oriented requirements rather than dictate a check list of actions, a leading consumer advocate working on draft legislation said as the Federal Trade Commission wrapped up two days of hearings on data security, part of a larger FTC effort to assess its evolving role in the digital economy.
